DMS Energy Wrap Up for 2020

Another year done and dusted for us as we close down for our annual Xmas break tomorrow. Looking back at the last 12 months, it’s been a topsy-turvy bit of a year; so much change and interruptions for many people out there and it had everyone on edge at times.

For us, business remained strong and we did some amazing projects this year. We put in more off grid solar systems than ever before, more grid connect solar systems and the most ever commercial solar systems. It was pleasantly hectic.

Meanwhile battling with COVID19 related freight issues, distancing issues and showroom issues to name a few. I don’t think I have had so many Zoom meetings in my life! That being said, it may be a good thing if video calls remain the norm. I actually appreciated being able to conduct successful meetings without the loss of time travelling to and from venues.

This year has been one of extremes for everyone but one thing has shined through; when the going gets tough, Tasmanian’s lift to challenge and support each other.

As for next year, we already have some cool stuff on the books to do so stay tuned for those. One thing I’ve noticed this year is the TasNetwork’s charges for just basic electrical disconnects and reconnects is obscenely over priced and is now prohibitively expensive just to have basic electrical safety work done on your switchboard. $552! which makes us the most expensive state in Australia and that’s before anyone has even done an ounce of work on your switchboard, so I’m keen to to see what I can do about that.

As for products, we have some amazing new products from our manufacturers.

LG have a new range of bigger wattage panels. Watching what those guys do next is always exciting.

LG Chem batteries have a new 16kWh battery to be released but some other new stuff which might turn the battery market on its head.

Q.CELLS have new wattages being released.

But the most exciting prospects for next year are coming from SolarEdge. The new energy Hub inverter. Battery-ready, EV (electric vehicle) charger-ready and all of your load control options are built into one inverter. Every other inverter manufacturer may as well close up shop and go home because if there is a technological race going on, these guys just won it.

There are also new SolarEdge 3-phase hybrid inverters, new SolarEdge batteries and solar modules. We are also incorporating SolarEdge into our bigger off grid systems. I look forward to filling you all in on these new products next year as they become available.

For 13 years now, DMS Energy has been plugging away, lowering people’s power bills in one way or the other. If asked what industry we are in, I guess the technical answer would be the electrical industry but personally I feel we are in the service industry and I take a great deal of pride in being able to service the North West Coast of Tasmania.

I also find myself humbled everyday by the over whelming support and trust my fellow Tasmanian’s put in DMS Energy to bring their home and business projects from concept to completion. From small beginnings of literally just me in a Nissan Patrol, to the point now where we have growing team of exemplary trades people and technicians with a fleet of vehicles buzzing about all over Tassie. We also have a growing group of apprentices which is something else that I take great pleasure in even though their constant supervision does seem to be prematurely ageing me at times.

So, thank you everyone out there for all your help and support as we couldn’t do what we do without you. Everyone, please have a safe Christmas with your family and 2020 can sod off. Let’s have cracking good 2021 and we can keep on lowering people’s power bill one roof or house at a time.

We are back on deck at the showroom at 56 Sheffield Rd on the 11th of January. If you need anything in the meantime just call our 1300 502 599 number and follow the prompts

See you all next year with exciting new adventures and stories.
